Diann Sanford, M.A.

    Diann Sanford has a master’s degree in counseling psychology, is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and is a doctoral candidate in clinical psychology from California Southern University.Her doctoral  research project is on heart rate variability and how it is used in the treatment of depression, anxiety and ADHD.“I am an integrative therapist,” she said.“I look at the whole person… heart, mind, body and spirit… total wellness.”

    With this type of holistic therapeutic approach, Diann is reaching back to her literal roots, she was raised on a farm in Illinois.“My mom and dad were farmers; they grew plants, I grow people” she states. Prior to attaining her graduate degree, Diann taught at the elementary and middle school level and worked at the secondary level with special needs students.She then transferred those skills to the private sector, where she built a business in training teams and developing people.It is during her business venture that she developed a deeper interest in psychology.

    In therapy, Diann uses the principles of Positive Psychology, which measures the effects of gratitude and compassion on the body, along with Cognitive-Behavioral therapy.Often, she adapts and creates strengths-based interventions to fit the specific needs of her client.She considers herself a generalist, as she provides therapy to a diverse group of individuals, couples and families.She also serves as a diagnostician, conducting psychological services and therapy under the supervision and guidance of Dr. Lisa Warren, a licensed clinical psychologist.

    Diann and her husband Doug are empty-nesters. They enjoy spending time with their family and friends, as well as experiencing new things.Hiking, skiing, golf, traveling, and exploring small Texas towns are just some of the things they to do for fun.
