Emily Frazee, LCSW-S
My approach is simple: be authentic. This means being honest, open, down-to-earth, non-judgmental, and supportive. I strive to create a safe therapeutic environment for you built on collaboration and empowerment. I have experience helping people suffering from grief, anxiety, depression, and traumatic stress. I have worked with those affected by racial disparities, gender/sexuality concerns, bullying, relationship problems, and work stressors, among numerous other issues.
I deliver “trauma-informed care,” meaning I recognize the signs of trauma and educate clients about the impact of trauma on the brain. I assist trauma survivors in understanding the symptoms of trauma rather than blaming and labeling people for “bad” behavior. Survivors learn to recognize and change patterns that developed as a survival response, but that are no longer working in everyday life.
I take a holistic approach: We may explore how you were raised, where you live, your family structure, the things you eat, and the thoughts and emotions you have. All of this matters. In considering your unique circumstances, experiences, and temperament, we collaborate to develop a tailored treatment that works best for you. You are the expert on your own life and I utilize my education and experience to help you improve it.
I see adolescents ages 12 and up, as well as adults, on an individual basis.
