Brandee Nichols, LCSW
My approach to therapy would be best described as holistic. I consider the body, mind, and spirit of the client, as well as the connection between the three. I understand that life’s challenges and unhealed traumas often interfere with joy and peace in our lives. Therefore, my practice is trauma informed, meaning that I am especially concerned with the impact of loss and trauma on the lives of my clients. As we move through those challenges, I work with clients to establish a sense of hope and resilience to help them navigate current and future issues.
I recognize that people are the experts of their own lives. There is no one size fits all approach to therapy! I understand that each person has strengths and, as the therapy process is underway, I will assist you in building on those strengths while identifying areas of potential growth and change. I believe that therapy is a collaborative process, so I always work with clients to refine interventions to better address their individual needs. The goal of treatment is to help clients improve their emotional, physical, spiritual, and relational health.
I consider it an honor to empower my clients to overcome personal challenges while they gain new perspectives and outlooks on life. I have over 14 years of practice experience, which has afforded me the privilege of caring for individuals and families within a variety of practice settings. My practice experiences have all been in the Central Texas area, and include: In-home and Community Social Work support services for parents/caregivers and their children; Skills training for children with developmental delays and disabilities; Outpatient substance abuse and addictions treatment for adolescents and adults; In-patient and residential treatment for youth and adults; Medical Social Work at a Skilled Nursing Unit, and counseling within the school setting.
I draw from an eclectic pool of theoretical frameworks including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy and Systems/Family Systems Theory. I believe that through building an empathic and therapeutic relationship with clients, I can effectively walk with them through the healing journey. I specialize in working with adolescents (12 or older), and adults. My specialties include: Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, Grief and Loss, Personality Disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, and Mood Disorders.
